<poema> Born 1981
childhood is a misterious place a place where we were born a place we don’t remember quite so well how can you move forward not knowing where you are coming from I remember parts of it, not beautiful or ugly, but more real than the present time underneath the surface, underneath it all I emerge bigger and different childhood is a place of losten memorys I am discovering my body, my heart, myself, I am getting away from the world and from you all |
Always the days, aways the hours *

My favorite 16 iPhone free* Applications
October 10, 2009 · 1 Comment

These are currently my 16 17 extra iPhone apps (in the picture the balance app is missing because, as I use it on a daily basis, it is on my first “page”).
As an iPhone starter, my main concerns while filling my dear iPhone where finding free, quality software that would actually be usefull for me. I did some research on the internet and realized that iPhone apps actually bring to light the differences between users. I mean some ofthem are universal, some relate to a specific country and some are so very personal. I take this in consideration in the small summary I wrote about each one of them.
I must say though that, when talking about more personal items, I do enjoy simple and beautifully designed apps. They make me feel happy and confident that the iPhone is not going to crack accidentally!
Also, a good tip for searching apps is to be faithful to a programer you are familiar with. If you enjoy an application search for the name of the person that conceived it. They shoud have apps that match your taste and that work as well as the others.
Another tip, which is kind of stupid but has worked with me, even before i owned an iPhone, is to trust your instinct. Look at the image that comes with the app and read the text that describes it. Usually people selling bad software are not very bright, so you can easily identify them.
Balance - free – monthly budget. Usefull in a very personal and debatable way. I need it!
Cine Sapo – free – information about movies in Portugal
WordPress – free – to post from everywhere on my blog
Google Earth – free – We just love eveything about google!
History Map – free – Ancient World Maps linked to historical events
MB Phone – free – portugueses ATM system that allows you to do everything that you would do in an ATM except withdraw money
Sepia Camera – free – ok, now we enter the very personal zone…actually I wouldn’t recommend this as a must have application, but I like to have it on my iPhone!
*oops – Toy Camera – 1,75 – .this one is cutter, but also not essential. I enjoy it though, but wait for the following.
*oops – Quad Camera – 1,75 euros – This is the 3rd photo application I have that actually replaces the original iPhone camera. This I would mark as must have! It takes a sequence of photos…pretty much like the LOMO camera.
Mill Colour -free – photography editing application that you don’t really need. I need it because it’s free and because I am a bit obsessed about photo apps.
Sketch Book – free and too cute to be true. Draw with your finger and save the images. It’s actually very usefull, from my point of view, of course!
FlipBook Lite – free and cute app that simulates a flip book. Not essential tough. But what is the definition of essential, anyway? Something that makes you smile!
Stanza – This one is definitly a must have and should come as no surprise because it’s the best online library! You can download a lot of classic ebooks for free (and also contemporary paid ones) and read it in a forest, for example. Or, even better, by the sea not worrying about the wind turning the pages. Use your fingers…
Shadows – free – This one shouldn’t even be considered by me as an application. It is actually an artistic project made exclusively to be seen on iPhone and I think it’s beautifull and therefore essential to make you HAPPY while you wait in the bus station or in a traffic jam. It works trough zooming and it’s magical.
Cruelty Free – free – Essential and usefull if you are really human. Otherwise you may want to keep on buying animal tested products!
Bubble Wrap – well, i guess we always need a game and here is a free addictive one.
Planets – because we do love to stare at the stars, no at the gutter.

“Sometimes being a brother is even better than being a superhero” Marc Brown

(Sri-Lanka at War)

(Balkan Wars – Bosnia War)
Pictures by Ron Havive, War Photojournalist.
Yesterday it was late at night and altough there was no light outside other than the one from the lamps in the street the morning was soon to emerge. I was watching a tv documentary about the role of photojournalists during the Balkans Wars, and Ron Havive was one of them. I was amazed with the courage of a man and then I was amazed with the lack of courage of most of us. This is the thing: if you face someone extraordinary, you can’t help but feel sorry for mediocrity. Ron Havive is extraordinary, he did something very real for the world. I don’t know why he did it, what moved him, what fed his enourmous courage. Not a sense of duty to his nation, not religious purposes, something more grandious, something more human than most humans will ever realize, the sense of responsability maybe, the will not to be impotent, the rage, the determination not to hide, his heart, something grand.
